Magnus Chase has always been a troubled kid. Since his mother’s mysterious death, he’s lived alone on the streets of Boston, surviving by his wits, keeping one step ahead of the police and the truant officers.

One day, he’s tracked down by a man he’s never met—a man his mother claimed was dangerous. The man tells him an impossible secret: Magnus is the son of a Norse god.

The Viking myths are true. The gods of Asgard are preparing for war. Trolls, giants and worse monsters are stirring for doomsday. To prevent Ragnarok, Magnus must search the Nine Worlds for a weapon that has been lost for thousands of years.

When an attack by fire giants forces him to choose between his own safety and the lives of hundreds of innocents, Magnus makes a fatal decision.

Sometimes, the only way to start a new life is to die . . .

OMG! Uncle Rick is back! I know lots of you have read it, but seriously that doesn’t stop me from fangirling all over you.
Before we go any further let me tell you a thing or two. This series is set in the same universe as Pecy Jackson Series, but you can read this book before reading PJO or HOO series. There is Annabeth who have some role but doesn’t really have much influence in the book. And lastly, I think this book is one of the best Rick Riordan’s work for the last decade. I mean , seriously, The Nine Worlds? Yeah, in all Rick’s works they set in only one freaking planet. But this one. Dude, the set is not in 9 planet but nine freaking dimension. How cool is that?

Okay, move on to the POV. It’s written in first POV which is Magnus’s. I love his tone. It’s different than Percy's, but equally sassy. If you love PJO more than HOO, this book is the one for you.

Move on to the character. Our hero is actually kinda different than our usually heroes. While most of them are actually born with combat abilities, Magnus is born with healing abilities. He is not the son of lighting god or the son of sea god. His father is the god of warmth and summer. But still, Magnus is equally fantastic as other heroes.

The next character is our heroine. I don’t know why but I always love Rick’s female leads including our Samirah Al-Abbas aka Sam. She remind me of Zoe Nightshade, I think it’s because how insecure she feel about her parentage. The best feature about the character is that she’s willing to break her family tradition in order to chase her own dreams. I think there are some bravery in that act of her.

So far, I haven’t sense any romance sparking. But I don’t know. It took 5 years for Percabeth. Or maybe there’s going to be a brand new kind of romance. I’m sure it’ll worth the wait if there will be any future romance.

Anyway, this book is absolutly amazing. It’s not really a hearthbeating one honestly. It’s kinda light read actually. But still, there’s no way you can put down this book without wondering how it’s going to end.

”Somebody once told me that a hero’s bravery has to be unplanned—a genuine response to a crisis. It has to come from the heart, without any thought of reward,”—Magnus Chase

“The thing about fate ,Magnus : even if we can’t cahnge the big picture, our choice can alter the details. That’s how we rebel against destiny, how we make our mark,”—Loki
