Summary:
Princess Eadlyn has grown up hearing endless stories about how her mother and father met. Twenty years ago, America Singer entered the Selection and won the heart of Prince Maxon—and they lived happily ever after. Eadlyn has always found their fairy-tale story romantic, but she has no interest in trying to repeat it. If it were up to her, she'd put off marriage for as long as possible.
But a princess's life is never entirely her own, and Eadlyn can't escape her very own Selection—no matter how fervently she protests.
Eadlyn doesn't expect her story to end in romance. But as the competition begins, one entry may just capture Eadlyn's heart, showing her all the possibilities that lie in front of her . . . and proving that finding her own happily ever after isn't as impossible as she's always thought.
Review:
What will happen after the great
happy ending? It will be a new story to be told I guess. Anyway,it’s a little
bit hard for me to get my hands on this book and I have to wait a year for it. But
it’s worth the wait.
Compared to America’s Selection,
her daughter, Eadlyn’s has different atmosphere. I mean, of course it does,
this time we see The Selection from the eyes of someone who host it not someone
who just participate.
The storyline is different too.
Actually, most of the book is different than the previous ones. It’s like
reading a totally new series. The characters, plot, the narrative tone. All of
them is so different that they grabbed my attention in different way.
Let’s start with the character. Well,
I definitely have a lot to talk about. Start with Eadlyn. She is stubborn like
her mother. But that’s it. She has more complex and more complicated characters
than America and at some points, her character is more flawed, but it makes her more relatable. She doesn’t
carry the burden that her mother used to have, but somehow I felt she
more isolated and introvert. She is like building this walls around her. I
guess it’s because what her job demands or so she thought.
Unlike her mother, Eadlyn doesn’t
really believe in love and thought it is something she can play around with .
She also a little bit self centered to the point of selfish. But she is, well,
smart, clever, intelligent , even calculated and a little bit manipulative. I
know it’s kinda bad for her character’s review. But I guess it’s normal. I mean what else can you do if you are forced
to marry in your teen?Like I said, her character is relatable. Anyway, her
character will develop in the end and I would like to see more of her.
For the male participants. Honestly,
I didn’t find someone as gripping as Maxon. About 3 years ago , I fell in love
with Maxon Schreave after few pages. But none of these guys leave enough
impressions on me to make me decided whether I love him or hate him. Maybe the
main reason is that there are too many focus on too many guys that it’s hard to
find someone that really settled on my heart. Maybe because the romances isn’t
the main focus on this book, which bring me to the next topic.
About the romances, I don’t think
it’s the main problem and I don’t really mind with it. I think it’s more like how Eadlyn finally
understand the meaning of her duties and how she fight her inner demons. It’s
something that makes this novel interesting, I guess. It’s not about how someone
relate to someone else in particular, but everyone else.
Well, this book is not like
something I have expected before, but I’m sure it’s greart in it’s own way.
Kiera Cass still maintain her light writing makes it easy for me to get at the
end of the book. Although, it’s not really
graping like the previous books. That’s all I guess
“I'm not sure anyone knows what they're looking for until they find it."- Eadlyn Schreave
